The 2027 CDT code changes bring important updates that dental office managers and practice leaders need to understand to support accurate documentation, procedure reporting, and efficient claims processing. This course provides an overview of the CDT Code Maintenance Committee process and explores the key additions, revisions, and editorial changes taking effect January 1, 2027.
Participants will learn about the 67 CDT code changes for 2027, including updates to preventive services, restorative dentistry, prosthodontics, implant services, orthodontics, orofacial pain management, and other dental procedures. Through explanations from National Association of Dental Plans (NADP) experts, attendees will gain a better understanding of how CDT codes evolve, why accurate procedure reporting matters, and how to distinguish dental service documentation from insurance coverage and claim adjudication decisions.
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Explain the CDT Code Maintenance Committee process and how dental procedure codes are reviewed, revised, and implemented.
- Identify key additions, revisions, and editorial changes to the 2027 CDT code set and their implications for dental practice documentation and reporting.
- Distinguish between CDT procedure codes and claim processing information, including the roles of Remittance Advice Remark Codes (RARCs) and Claim Adjustment Reason Codes (CARCs).
