- Distinguish between positional authority and influence built through trust, credibility and consistency.
- Identify the nine leadership behaviors in the Anatomy of Influence and describe how they affect a dental team.
- Select one behavior to practice intentionally and outline a specific action you will be able to practice with your team and build your leadership skills through your Influence.
Teresa Spence
Teresa C. Spence, DAADOM is a dental practice leader and consultant with over 37 years of experience in the dental field. She serves as a leader at Amelia Dental Group in Fernandina Beach, Florida and is the founder of Grace & Grit Dental Solutions, where she is passionate about helping teams grow, build strong cultures, and create systems that support both people and performance.
Teresa was named Practice Administrator of the Year in 2021 and holds a Distinction of Diplomate designation with the American Association of Dental Office Management.
In 2025, she received the “Leave the Ladder Down” award, reflecting her heart for mentorship and her commitment to lifting others as they grow.
Her leadership philosophy centers on serving others, leading with intention, and empowering teams to reach their full potential while embracing tools and innovation that support smarter, more effective leadership.
